It’s January. We’re waist-deep in snow drifts, fighting flurries and -30C weather, and all the while trying to stay healthy (I see you, Omicron!!) and happy in the depths of Winter.

Never an easy task, but it’s one we’re all working on together – and that makes the load a bit lighter, doesn’t it?

Ellen Goodman, a Pulitzer prize-winning columnist and journalist that has spent her career chronicling social change, once said:  “Maybe this year, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives not looking for flaws, but looking for potential.”

And that’s my approach to 2022.

January’s installment of our Dear Urbaneer series is entitled, ‘Dear Urbaneer: How Can I Make My Outdoor Space More Eco-Friendly?’ This time, Steve is helping out homeowners who are keen to make their outdoor space a reflection of their passion for sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint: “After living in a residential high-rise tower for several years, now that we’ve recently moved into a house in the central core we’re keen to make our outdoor spaces more eco-friendly and sustainable, both in a commitment to creating habitats for different species of flora and fauna, as well as our own desire to reconnect with nature on a daily basis”. Steve and the Urbaneer Team post weekly blogs that share our love of all things real estate and that celebrate Toronto! Here are three of our most well-read posts this past month:

The most popular post for January was our annual reflection on the past year’s blogs: Urbaneer’s Top 5 Most Popular Blogs Of 2021. They’re not necessarily the longest, or our favourites, but happen to have the highest number of clicks from our readers. It gives us a sense of what drew the most readers to our website and, moreover, allows us extrapolate societal changes that perhaps incited these posts to do well. Check out what made the Top 5!

We appreciate that Steve’s rumination on design and fences – their service and implications in residential neighbourhoods – was also well-read, because we enjoy touching all aspects of house and home in the blog. Also, it’s fun to create content that is unexpected and provokes critical thought, don’t you think? The piece was called: ‘Good Fences Make Good Neighbours In Charlottetown, PEI‘.

Thirdly, we had a great response to our post, ‘Life Is Gouda When You’re At Grande Cheese Market In North York’. It was written as part of our promotional efforts to advertise the some of the local amenities surrounding our recent rental listing on Lawrence Avenue West. And since we’re a team of serious cheese lovers, this was the perfect family -owned business to spotlight! And certainly no hardship to investigate! 🙂

And – for lovers of unique urban spaces – don’t miss our sensational Toronto real estate listed for sale or lease on our site for your consideration!
