What else can we say about Insomnia other than it’s a true gem and a community favourite in the heart of Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood?
How about this: Insomnia has been around for over twenty-four years! During that time the restaurant has made a few changes, but not as many as it has had to this past year since the pandemic hit.

Today we spoke with the management and they shared that Insomnia has done some remodelling to make it more pandemic-friendly, so that when the latest lockdown is over, patrons will be able to dine in while still feeling safe and comfortable.
These changes include booths for four people (instead of six), dividers between tables, and gender-fluid (say goodbye to antiquated “men” and “women”) individual washrooms.
“But what about the food”, you ask?

The menu is a mixture of classic Mediterranean and French flavours and over the years, it has received accolades from Toronto Life, UrbanSpoon and Eye Magazine.
Some of the most popular items from their takeout menu include their mouth-watering Chicken linguine pasta (a staple recipe that has not been changed in 24 years!), and for those who like to be adventurous with their foods, why not try their Pineapple burger.
As for desserts, we were told that the Climax double chocolate espresso cake is to die for!

And did you know that they offer takeout cocktails? Yes they do, and the best part is that Thursdays are half-price on all Martinis! Our pick would definitely be the Lemon Drop Martini (Gin or vodka, Lemoncello, grapefruit juice, and lemon) or the Insomniac Espresso Martini (Vodka, Bolivar coffee liqueur, espresso). One word comes to mind: Yummylicious!
Currently, they’re open from Thursday to Fridays from 10am to 10pm and weekends from 9am to 10pm.
Closing hours may fluctuate.
For all Insomnia fans out there, take note: once patio season officially begins, they will be open every day!
Insomnia could be one of your new go-to neighbourhood eateries, if you lived at our brand new 3-bed, 3-bath listing in the Annex!
We call it: A Blank Canvas With Edwardian Roots In Prime Annex, Steps To Jean Sibelius Square
Nestled on a quiet avenue of century homes surrounded by verdant mature trees filled with birdsong, this charming setting for domestic bliss is a pleasing counterpoint to the ‘Bright Lights Big City’ vibes of Bloor Street to the south. This home is located just far enough from the fray that you’ll enjoy instant access to solitude and repose, yet conveniently, you’re just 400 steps to the Spadina subway station and 800 steps to a Metro Grocer, a Shopper’s Drug Mart, or the Miles Nadal JCC.
Constructed in 1900, this gracious semi-detached 3-storey double-brick residence offers over 2,000 square feet above grade. Situated on an impressive 23.08-foot x 128-foot lot, this property shares a mutual drive with its neighbour to the north, and includes a semi-detached single-vehicle carport plus 2 tandem outdoor parking spaces.

An Authentic Brick & Beam Loft Townhouse In Little Italy’s Button Factory

Since 1989, I’ve steered my career through a real estate market crash and burn; survived a slow painful cross-country recession; completed an M.E.S. graduate degree from York University called ‘Planning Housing Environments’; executed the concept, sales & marketing of multiple new condo and vintage loft conversions; and guided hundreds of clients through the purchase and sale of hundreds of freehold and condominium dwellings across the original City of Toronto. From a gritty port industrial city into a glittering post-industrial global centre, I’ve navigated the ebbs and flows of a property market as a consistent Top Producer. And I remain as passionate about it today as when I started.
