Welcome to The Urbaneer blog on housing, culture, and design! I’m Steve Fudge and I’m celebrating over three decades as a realtor, property consultant, and proud resident of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
If I were to pick 7 numbers to represent my feelings about Toronto’s 7 Numbers – the comfort foodies’ destination for authentic Southern Italian soul food in Toronto – they’d all be 7 out of 7s!
Spreading the gastro goodness across the core, 7 Numbers has locations on both Eglinton West and Danforth Avenue. This is primo rustic Italian cuisine cooked with love If you grew up in a household that treasured regular gatherings for large family meals – and with a grandmother or two who took great pride in serving up signature family recipes – then this restaurant will illicit warm, nostalgic feelings for you.
In fact, there’s a good chance if you go to the Eglinton location, the kitchen will likely be manned by your defacto Nonna for the night – Mama Rosa!
Do you love to cook? On the last Monday of every month, Momma Rosa hosts a cooking-class-slash-dinner party where everyone takes turns preparing dishes with her in the Eglinton location’s kitchen and feasts. A little tutelage and a lot of great dishes from her family-style menu, with plenty of Antipasti and wine included!

Cucine Dolce Casalinga
I enjoy the Eglinton location but the Danforth spot became my instant neighbourhood go-to when I moved to Riverdale 8 years ago. In fact, the first night I moved into my Riverdale digs and decided I should grab a bite to eat. (After all, for fter decades of being the unofficial mayor of College Street – where I had a front-row seat, knife & fork during Toronto’s culinary renaissance of the 90s & 00’s before the party Conga Lined to Ossington Avenue – I’m now a foodie at heart.). So, I walked out my door, took a couple of short twists and turns through the beautiful streets of Riverdale – where I can’t help but stop and admire the Edwardian architecture – and the first business I reached on Danforth Avenue was…
Yup, 7 Numbers.
Dining there I realized I had unwittingly stumbled into my new official ‘Kalendar Cafe’ (an elegantly casual pretense-free cafe with a stellar patio & good food located next door to Starbucks in the Movie House Lofts – & Urbaneer.com’s Headquarters – on College Street at Euclid from 1997 to 2019) becoming my neighbourhood go-to ever since.
I promise you. The restaurant is a great destination for friends, family, or a casual romantic date. The atmosphere is relaxed, aglow, flirty & fun. The service is beyond lovely. And every dish is made fresh daily. You can’t beat that! We recommend dining in (rather than take-out) so you experience the setting and taste every dish paired properly with their selection of beverages and in the company of others who share a passion for food made with love.
What Do I Keep Ordering At 7 Numbers?
I always have the locally made Burrata Cheese with Toasted Focaccia. If my step-mother is visiting we share an order of Fried Sardines. I love all of the Veggies Side, but a definite must is the Roasted Cauliflower with Salsa Verde, Pecorino & Toasted Breadcrumbs. And the Ravioli stuffed with Ricotta, Mascarpone & Parmigiano in a creamy tomato sauce takes me back to the days when I served (& ate near daily for 7 years) at Ciao on Church Street – a fabulous Italian Pasta Shack open from 1984 to 1993 featuring an on-trend decor of white marble floors, black and chrome tables, lipstick red chairs, mirrored walls and Faema chrome fittings galore – plus excellent authentic fresh food.
7 Numbers is my comfort food, today.

Check out this listing that we JUST SOLD called: A Panoramic Penthouse Perch In Forest Hill. It was mere steps to 7 Numbers!
As Toronto – the City of Neighbourhoods – exponentially explodes with hundreds of construction cranes building predominantly high-density towers, Buyers navigating the real estate market in the central core of the City are discovering the quest to secure a more spacious boutique residence is increasingly challenging. Especially if one desires to be well-situated in a Triple-A neighbourhood with excellent transit, superb access to green space, and everyday amenities within walking distance.
This generous one-bedroom penthouse suite (it used to be two bedrooms!) is over 1000 square feet, with a large south-facing terrace of almost 300 square feet! Dreamy!
We also sold this handsome property, which is just a 2-minute walk from 7 Numbers on the Danforth.
We called it: Hip, Hip, Hooray for 140 Hampton Avenue In Riverdale
Want to have someone on your side?
Since 1991, I’ve steered my career through a real estate market crash and burn; survived a slow painful cross-country recession; completed an M.E.S. graduate degree from York University called ‘Planning Housing Environments’; executed the concept, sales & marketing of multiple new condo and vintage loft conversions; and guided hundreds of clients through the purchase and sale of hundreds of freehold and condominium dwellings across the original City of Toronto. From a gritty port industrial city into a glittering post-industrial global centre, I’ve navigated the ebbs and flows of a property market as a consistent Top Producer. And I remain as passionate about it today as when I started.
We’d love to introduce your services to you.
