February’s Dear Urbaneer was entitled, Dear Urbaneer: How Do Purpose-Built Rentals Affect Toronto Property Investors? In this one, Steve provides counsel to a property investor who is wondering about how current market conditions – including the supply of new condominiums and purpose-built rentals – should inform his outlook. The question reads: “I’ve been considering a property purchase downtown for my kids to live in when they go to university. As I analyze the market, I’ve noticed that the increase in both recently registered condominiums and purpose-built rental buildings has brought a lot of new supply to the market, which I presume is partly why rents are trending lower. Is the purpose-built rental market growing? What should we expect with purpose-built rentals in the coming years? And is it going to have any impact on ‘Mom & Pop’ investors?” Read on for Steve’s reply!
Steve and the Urbaneer Team post weekly blogs that share our love of all things real estate and that celebrate Toronto! Below are three of our most well-read posts this past month:
Our most well-read piece was our 2024 wrap-up blog entitled, ‘How Urbaneer Sold This Panoramic Penthouse In The Chocolate Company Lofts On Queen Street West‘. Whether the cracks in our housing market are the byproducts of overt financialization, rampant speculation, or our collective overreach investing in an asset-based economy, the promise of certain riches is beginning to dim. In these changing times, if you’re planning to sell a property, Steve encourages you to seek the counsel of a realtor with knowledge, experience, and wisdom to guide you through our shifting market. We’d like to show you how we recently sold an open-concept soft loft penthouse in the Chocolate Company Lofts at 955 Queen Street West. Read on!
Another popular piece was ‘Patisserie La Cigogne On The Danforth For Valentine’s Day‘. Here’s one of our favourite patisseries! In French, “La Cigogne” means “the stork”, a bird which has historically been something of a mascot in Alsace, France, thanks to the large population that build their nests there. They’re said to spread happiness and fidelity! The shop specializes in Alsatian delicacies, offering traditional French desserts, croquembouches, wedding cakes, pastries, breads, chocolate and other sumptuous French fare daily! And from personal experience, we can assure you that every sweet morsel is outstanding!
We also had a great response to our blog, ‘Fresh Fitness Goals For February At Studio Lagree‘. Join our Urbaneer Guest Writer Tiffanie as she explores Studio Lagree on King Street West. It’s a premiere fitness facility that specializes in high intensity and resistance-based training that will have you feeling energized almost immediately – and see your warm weather bod goals realized sooner than you’d think!
