A Few Of My Favourite Bloor West Village Food Vendors!

Welcome! I’m Cynthia Rose – part of the Urbaneer team – and I specialize in buying & selling real estate in Swansea & Bloor West Village!

I’m all about indulging in the freshness that comes with Spring. Whether it’s a quiet evening at home, an impromptu gathering, a friendly potluck or the most delicious host offering, I love shopping for new and indulgent culinary treats in my community of Swansea and neighbouring Bloor West Village. So here are a few of my favourite new purveyors of delectable eats n’ treats found in BWV!

Top of my list of favourites goes to Snappers. Owners Eddie & Eliana breathed new energy into the enterprise, not only with the freshest and most delectable selections of seafood and mouth-watering must-try recipes but also with their bright personalities and easy laughter; it makes the visit to the shop a real joy! If you’re new to Snappers, don’t hesitate to ask for advice – they give great recommendations! My three favourite buys would probably be:  the salmon – for pure and simple, melt-in-your-mouth goodness (plus it’s sushi-grade).  Second, I am a sucker for mussels. I love them simmered in a simple white wine sauce and served with a crusty fresh baguette. And third – they’re juicy scallops. Or tied for third – the halibut. But also the Ahi tuna… wow… Is anyone else ready for lunch?! It needs to be said that their business practices reflect Eddie & Eliana’s integrity and values. The markups on their products are ridiculously low compared to anywhere else I have shopped. Now, of course, I don’t shop anywhere else! I’m a Snapper for life!

The Cheese Boutique is an obviously fine food choice on everyone’s list, but my hat goes to the newest addition to The Cheese Boutique family, the CB Bottega. This is by far my latest and greatest pitstop favourite in the hood. The front of the shop serves up hot and delicious beverages with no shortage of decadent freshly baked goods to choose from, including the best, melt-in-your-mouth biscotti in a dozen different flavour combinations. Walk through to the back and you have oodles of readymade goodness to choose from. I am a huge fan of their apps, sandwiches and sides that can work as yummy fuel on the go, or the makings of a fantastic and easy spread for guests. I would also be remised, if I didn’t mention the fun of wandering through the CB Bottega for its curated stock of kitchenware and culinary must-haves for the chefs on your list. Most definitely worth a visit found at 29 Ripley Avenue!

And last, but certainly not least, you. must. run. (not walk!) to the newly-opened Apulia Gastronomia! Yum, yum, yummer doodles! Serving authentic Italian food, including handmade pasta and other inspired dishes from the beloved Italian region of Puglia, owners Stefano and Maria Trivisani proudly share their culinary heritage with customers. This family-run business is devoted to the passion and quality of Italy, its culture and its food. Imagine what Nonna would serve… that comforting, flavourful, soul-stroking food is ready to bring home to your loved ones. Most of their dishes pay tribute to a patient slow-cooking or made-from-scratch process, and all are made to order with love. So, do yourself a favour by picking up the Lasagna Emiliana which is truly a show-stopper! That said, the Gnocchi All Sorrentina is also a fav of mine – YUM! Come on, Bloor West Village – stocking the pantry and/or freezer has never been easier or more delicious! Visit Apulia Gastronomia at 259 Armadale Avenue or order online at apuliagastronomia.ca
