Life is comprised of moments, and in our daily endeavours, the experience is often just as rewarding as the product.
Take for example the concept of the “Grocerant”, where casual dining meets grocery shopping. Flavour abounds, both with the contents of your cart-or on your plate. Celebrity Chef Mark McEwan’s gourmet Grocerant and Yonge and Bloor creates a dream setting for foodies. The chance to dine comfortably on top-notch food, draw inspiration for your next dish and pick up your food staples and special ingredients in style.

Innovative, influential, and uber-skilled Chef Mark McEwan has been blazing trails of flavour through the City of Toronto for years. The McEwan grocery store at Yonge and Bloor marks the third of its kind in his creative culinary portfolio. This impressive space spans a whopping 17,000 square feet and is housed in the mixed retail/residential One Bloor East building

Shoppers can expect to find high-quality groceries, along with delectable grab-and-go food. For those wishing to nosh on-site, there are a number of sit down dining options as well.
The experience of shopping here isn’t just about the food. There has been great attention to detail in the décor to deliver the whole package. The expansive space features warm woods, stone, polished concrete and patterned tile. There is also, of course, McEwan’s trademark royal purple. Smart decorative display lighting heightens functionality, but also contributes to the overall contemporary impression of this grocery store with more.
McEwan’s Café features Lavazza roasts, pastries and all-day breakfast. There is a sushi bar and Fabrica Pizza. This foodie haven offers “make your own meals” that go far beyond your usual salad bar (although they have that as well). Think rotisserie meats & carving station, hot and cold bars and a sandwich station.

And the grocery stock? Well, it’s really something! You’ll find all of your basic necessities and pantry staples, but you’ll also find a number of treasures and treats that will really, truly bring pleasure to those who love to cook: high end oils, market fresh produce and hard-to-find speciality items.

This store/eatery is proof that casual dining doesn’t mean compromising on dish quality or on dining experience, with sumptuous spreads and wide choice to please all palates!
Chef McEwan has two other similar ventures: a 21,740 square foot grocery store at CF Shops at Don Mills and a 5,500 square foot “grab-and-go” store or prepared meals in the Financial District’s TD Centre.
