Is there truly a restaurant more highly-coveted on a Sunday than the perfect brunch spot?! We don’t think so!
One of our absolute faves is Lady Marmalade, known as much for its Eggs Benedict, Cheddar Waffles, and Breaky Poutine as it is for the hip atmosphere and Insta-worthy design that foodies and ‘foodographers’ adore.

Lady Marmalade has been a fixture in Leslieville for years, but in late 2018 the eatery migrated from its eclectic and cosy location on Queen Street East to an expansive, light-filled multi-storey space on Broadview Avenue north of Dundas East. Whereas its old home was characterized by bright colours, retro furniture, and mismatched tableware, the new iteration of Lady Marmalade is all about clean lines, volumes of articulated space, and an infusion of natural light.

Designed by acclaimed Omar Gandhi Architect, this project was a two-year gut renovation of a 19th-century brownstone (the Toronto iteration) that had originally been slotted to become luxury apartments. Lady Marmalade now occupies two storeys that are elegantly finished in Baltic Birch, which works in concert with a soft, subtle colour palette (and plants aplenty!) to put the ‘fresh‘ in this lovely resto-refresh! OG’s design uses large windows and skylights to draw in natural light and wash the space in an almost ethereal glow. You get both calm and culinary delight in the same place!
It is a testament to the management of this neighbourhood favourite that, even with more space and a new aesthetic, Lady Marmalade still feels cozy and cool. The extra room just means that you can sit and savour for longer, catching up with friends or enjoying a moment of sweet solitude.
The menu is much the same, including their notable all-day brunch offerings, and patrons will find the signature habanero hot sauce and soy-ginger dressing on the tables as before! Owners David Cherry and Natalia Simachkevitch have built their menu around free-run eggs, quality meats, sustainable fish, and local produce, so this is truly feel-good fare!
