Graceness Goodness At College Street

College Street / Little Italy

If you're a regular reader of my blog, you know I love the use of natural materials (stone, glass, wood, and metal) in architecture, that my interior design aesthetic has been evolving from modern eclectic to classic contemporary and, for the last few years I've been increasingly obsessed with the colour black which I've used both inside and out. The photo above is an interior snap shot of my former loft in the Button Factory which, amidst the exposed brick walls, wood beams, abundant glass and metal details, this inky wall of chalkboard paint situated under the staircase grounded the space and visually connected it to the stone floors. I loved it.

I also love black on the exterior of houses. In fact, we're soon going to reveal the Black House in Charlottetown which James and I have been lovingly renovating these past four years. Stay tuned for that! It's jaw droppingly gorgeous! Click HERE for my first blog post about my love for Black.

The other day I was walking over to a client's property, which will be coming to market this September (soon to be in our Current Promotions section as a 'Coming Soon' listing), when I walked past a charming property on Grace Street which has been undergoing its own transformation for the past while. This residence now has new windows, doors, paint and exterior landscaping, all of which I adore. It garners both my admiration and applause.

Here's a pic of it 'Before”:

And here's a couple of photos of it 'Now”:

I think the little wooden entry gate constructed of cedar is particular endearing and 'Oh So Cute'!

While this house isn't the true black I covet, but the Charcoal Grey which is all the rage right now (I think people are afraid of the colour black), I still think it's pretty fantastic and a true testament to how Torontonians are willing to flex their creative spirits. Thumbs up to these owners who are very much on the cutting edge of mood!
