Discover Something New At The Oakwood Village Library & Arts Centre

City Living, Oakwood Village /

The Oakwood Village Library and Arts Centre, a branch of the Toronto Public Library, stands out as a multi-faceted hub for community engagement and learning. The TPL and its outstanding staff have curated a welcoming and supportive atmosphere here, where folks of all age groups can find a place to work, study, access the trove of resources, or sit down with a good book! You’ll appreciate the quiet areas and separate spaces dedicated to children & adults, ensuring everyone can enjoy their library experience to the fullest!

Beyond its diverse collection of texts and media, the Oakwood Village Library offers innovative community programs and a variety of education & technology courses for all ages. You can learn Python, try your hand at coding, or update your digital skills! They also host hobby & craft clubs (knitting circles, mothercraft drop-ins, LEGO club, mini journalling, and family colouring hour, to name a few) that foster creativity and collaboration –  particularly among youth. Explore their offerings here! The library also provides essential services for those who need them, including computer access, low-cost printing, and free wifi, making it a valuable resource for the community.

It’s well known that OV has a large creative community and that artistic expression is both valued and facilitated in this neighbourhood. (Check out our blog, ‘We HeART Vibrant Oakwood Avenue: A Growing Toronto Arts District‘). So, naturally, the Oakwood Library & Arts Centre boasts an art exhibition space that elevates local artists with monthly shows and hosts a variety of shows and performances. What’s coming up in their program, you ask? Guardians of the Gods, for one!

“Guardians of the Gods is a play about what unites children across the globe: living in a world ruled by adults. Written by Erik Uddenberg and directed by Gustav Deinoff, the play has been developed from interviews with children and adults from 11 countries across five continents. During 2025-26, the play will be performed in all 11 countries in their respective languages!

The play is part of The Childhood Project – a major international collaboration between all participating theatres, from Bangladesh to Finland. The project aims to enhance cultural education for children and young people worldwide.”

Oakwood Village Library and Arts Centre embodies a commitment to promoting literacy, learning, and community connection, making it a cherished institution in the neighbourhood. To this point, it’s been announced that the building will undergo renovations at some point in 2026, including essential repairs, updates, and accessibility improvements. The interior will be getting an exciting refresh, with upgrades for shelving and seating. (You can watch for reno updates here.)

Since 1989, I’ve steered my career through a real estate market crash and burn; survived a slow painful cross-country recession; completed an M.E.S. graduate degree from York University called ‘Planning Housing Environments’; executed the concept, sales & marketing of multiple new condo and vintage loft conversions; and guided hundreds of clients through the purchase and sale of hundreds of freehold and condominium dwellings across the original City of Toronto. From a gritty port industrial city into a glittering post-industrial global centre, I’ve navigated the ebbs and flows of a property market as a consistent Top Producer. And I remain as passionate about it today as when I started.

Please consider contacting me at 416-845-9905 or emailing me at Steve@urbaneer.com. It would be my pleasure to assist you.
