Eons ago I spent an indulgent Sunday afternoon spoiling myself with flaky pastries and a latte while reading my favourite shelter magazines at Woodlot on Palmerston Street at College. Click HERE to see that post.
I’d promise to return to this earthy industrial box of a space where the aroma of their massive wood oven casts a distinct ‘Ski Chalet’ sensibility. It’s an absolutely magical environment on a frosty winter’s day.
On the lower level is a tiny perch for cocktails, and on the upper level a dining area chock-a-block with tables. I have to say, on a cold Tuesday most other restaurants in the neighbourhood were wanting for patrons, whereas Woodlot was packed with people. It felt very exclusive, but not in a pretentious manner. It felt more like a collective “how lucky are we!” way.
With a superb wine recommendation and a small menu of culinary perfection, my friends and I embarked on a trip down savoury lane peppered with lively conversation and laughter.
Nothing could have comforted me more than a creamy Chicken Pot Pie with Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts! Yum!
If you’re looking to be transported to an environment unlike any other in Toronto and embark on a feast that will put a smile on your face, then this is a definite must-go!
Oh, and if you happened to live at Magnificent Montrose, our newest listing at $699,000, you’d be able to tipple your way Home on foot! Isn’t that amazing?
