To start, we bring you our Homewatch News contribution, ‘How To Make Your Move More Eco-Friendly’. If this Spring may see you moving dwellings, this is the post for you!
Everybody dreads moving day; it’s potential for chaos can even overshadow the excitement of a new home! As your devise your moving strategies to make the day easier on yourself, why not make sure your move is easy on the environment as well? Even small steps can make a significant impact on reducing your carbon footprint. Given that a steadily increasing number of industries and individuals alike are embracing sustainable living and green initiatives, we each have a personal responsibility to be change-makers. This post contains some simple steps to get you off on the right foot. Many of our Homewatch newsletters have been turned into direct mail pieces, delivered to around 40,000 Toronto households. It’s part of our on-going marketing efforts that range from traditional print campaigns – like advertising our Innovative Space ad in the Friday Globe and Mail newspaper (for over twenty years) – to our informative blog and our growing social media presence on Facebook, Google+, Instagram and Twitter.
We like share the tale of what one of our buyers have recently purchased in our traditional Home of The Month feature. In February we shared the tale of client rady to make her first purchase, having written a must-have list that would be tricky to satisfy 100%. With her partner already owning his own property, she wanted a principal residence that would meet both her particular needs, and those of potential future tenants. Why? Part of their strategy as a couple was to ensure their dwellings could potentially be merged into their income property porfolio in the future, should they co-purchase a matrimonial residence down the road. As a result, the property had to meet the needs of both herself / themselves and/or future tenants. Of priority was the property offer generous square footage, be in turn-key condition, present strong resale appeal, and be no more than $850,000. Read the blog to see how successful she was in her search!
February’s installment of our Dear Urbaneer series is entitled, ‘Is It Time To Downsize My Property?’ This time around, Steve helps a Baby Boomer client who, like so many homeowners of the same generation, is preparing to downsize her home: “Dear Urbaneer: I’m anticipating downsizing my home after decades of living with ample space around me. Now that in the process of making the ‘big move’ down the property ladder, I’m a little nervous! I suspect that moving to a smaller space isn’t just about having less house…How do I know what to expect and how can I be sure that I am happy and satisfied with my new home? How will I know if I’m making the right move, so to speak?” No question, downsizing is a major change, physically, mentally, and possibly financially. As our homes are undoubtedly more than bricks and mortar, downsizing your living space presents certain challenges- but at the same time it also presents certain opportunities that can help you make the most of your next position on the property ladder. It’s all about being aware of the multiple changes and strategizing around them effectively. Hop over to the full blog to read on!
