Thor Espresso At Bathurst and Niagara Streets

King West / Niagara / Liberty Village

If you're on the lookout for an ideal morning java boost, look no further than Thor Espresso located at 35 Bathurst Street. Strutting a decidely friendly and happening scandinavian minimalist vibe, Thor offers a unique twist on the more usual espresso offerings found in the city. Using beans roasted by Richmond Hill's Social Coffee And Tea Company, Thor owners Patrick Tu and Tom Junek employ a particular espresso machine manufactured by Slayer (we especially love the custom touch of hand carved wings, to match the magnificent wings of Thor's nordic helmet!) which allows the barista to manually control the pressure as the shot of espresso is pulled, and the result is phenomenally smooth and sweet – how fabulous is that?

Add in superb fun and friendly service, delicious treats baked up by local bakeries Circle and Square and Desmond and Beatrice and you've got everything you need for a perfect neighbourhood go-to hot spot. And on a frosty winter day like the ones we've all just been experiencing, who could resist getting all snuggled in a shearling chair-warmer? This is true nordic brilliance at its best – we recommend you stop in for a visit!
