Craving some down-home deliciousness? Saddle up and mosey over to The Wren near Danforth and Coxwell!
Spicing up it’s little strip of the Danforth, The Wren has quickly become a community favourite! It’s Western vibe is brought to life through a Saloon-style decor, with wide plank pine floors, a mural-painted exposed brick, wagon wheel chandeliers, stools pulled up to the bar, and barn wood banquet tables. We like!

Former advertising executive Dennis Kimeda and his wife Rhonda designed and renovated the entire space themselves. Just last month, they celebrated The Wren’s 5th anniversary – not a feat to be taken lightly in the fickle, fast-changing food industry of Toronto! If we had to hazard a guess, we’d say their success is built on a strong sense of community, where small businesses support one another. Neighbours, regulars, and friends are the mainstays of this little foodie family, and the vibe which that kind of loyalty creates is palpable to all customers – old and new. It’s true what they say: Danforth East Is A Village In A City!
Dennis and Rhonda have doubtlessly discovered – as many talented restauranteurs in the city have – that offering a personal twist on something familiar is the perfect way to ensure your food appeals to a wide range of pallettes, and its an easy way to introduce newbies to a style of food they’ve never tried before! The trick is striking an appealing balance – as the Wren most certainly has done – and focusing on fusions that work!

Our favourites? How can you resist some juicy comfort food like their Hot & Honey Fried Chicken Sandwich?! I mean… just look at that stack of deliciousness!! A runner up is the Chipotle Chicken Yorkie! It’s a creamy n’ crunchy twist on the classic UK pudding!
Their spicy but buttery Chickpea Curry is warm, familiar, and delicious. But if you’d like to try something new, may we suggest the Calamari Tacos?!

As for there drink offerings, they have 12 Ontario craft beers on tap (we love the Provincial pride) that often rotate. You can discover what the current line-up is on their social media. Their Tuesday Tap List is below, courtesy of Instagram. But if brews are your bag, they have some signature quenching cocktails too! Pour us a Thai Gin Fizz and serve it to us on their cute patio!!

As the cowboy saying goes: “Don’t worry about bitin’ off more’n you can chew; your mouth is probably a whole lot bigger’n you think!”
And if you’re at the Wren, it’ll be filled with a whole lotta goodness! It’s a cozy joint, with friendly attentive staff, good food, and great beer! Toronto needs more easy-ridin’ watering holes like this!

And be sure to check out our post, Danforth East Toronto – A Village in A City! And of course our other Neighbourhood Pages, for amenities, census data and flavour videos!
With a multi-disciplinary education in housing – and 27 years experience in the property market – I believe the search for a Home requires engagement on sensory, intellectual and emotional levels. In fact, those are some of the reasons why I am a fan of multimedia, especially as it relates to creating an understanding of neighbourhood atmosphere or providing a snapshot of what life would be like as a member of a given community.
Toronto, as you may know, is a City of Neighbourhoods, where there is a patchwork of lifestyle, options and unique amenities. Part of the service my team and I offer Urbaneer.com is a comprehensive understanding of what makes each of these neighbourhoods tick, and what amenities might be most appealing to a particular homeowner. Can we help you decide which neighbourhood might be best for you?
With decades of experience navigating the highs and lows of our market, and our commitment to remain acutely aware of shifts and trends, we are here to help!
All without pressure or hassle. May we be of assistance to you, or someone you love?
Thanks for reading!
