The Whirlwind Visit

Uncategorized

For the past three days James and I have been sequestered in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island preparing The Black House for its first sets of summer guests.

Yes, the vintage manse (now bespoke triplex) has two fully equipped suites offered for one week furnished rentals for those who seek a vacation respite or a place to ensconce themselves while completing that long overdue manuscript.

Despite having done a substantial amount of preparation last November, this trip we focused on the myriad of details we’re implementing to make this a great escape. We hit the shops and have double sets of high thread count linens, pillows and duvets at the ready, ordered the gas barbecues and outdoor seating, and purchased stacks of bright coloured towels, blankets and flip flops for our guests to take to the beach.

Here a couple of snaps of our two bedroom and den Attic Atelier, which now sleeps five:

We also had the flat-screen television with surroundsound installed, and finished fitting out the kitchen in our three bedroom ground floor Garden Suite. Here’s a couple of snaps:

We have our property manager, cleaning service and gardener coordinated so the place will always be well-presented (several of our plantings didn’t survive the winter – boo!) plus we’ve enlisted the assistance of our fab friend April who is elevating The Black House experience. On arrival, guests will find the fridge stocked with local produce, fresh breads, cheese and meats, for snacks or breakfast plus beer and wine ready for cocktail hour. Plus the washrooms will be ready with organic local soaps, shampoo and bathing salts for our guests’ own personal spa experience.

We’ve also arranged for a client care concierge ready to meet your personal needs. Want the fridge stocked for the week of your stay, a picnic for a day at the beach, a lobster fest prepared in our kitchen for your friends or family, or someone to guide you to all the best golf courses? We’ve aligned ourselves with several wonderful locals to make this happen!

We’re excited to be creating The Black House as a Dream Get-Away, especially knowing that soon we’ll be relishing it ourselves!
