With our new luxury rental on Markham Street, we've been perusing the local boutiques and great eateries in Mirvish Village near Bloor and Bathurst, including The Victory Cafe!
For the urbaneer team, we find Saturday mornings in the summer are best celebrated with brunch on a patio.
The Victory Café, located at the intersection of Markham St and Lennox St, serves a great brunch every weekend!
The Victory Café captures the essence of the downtown urban life, including the enthusiastic “Welcome, friends!” greeting by our server. Plus this destination has a stellar shady patio with lush garden greenery that wraps the front and side of this former merchant class mansion. Our server was a ball of positive energy and truly enhanced our experience for the better.
The food was fantastic too! Our cozy twosome ordered the classic three egg breakfast and the Victory Waffle. For the classic, three perfectly poached eggs were served alongside your choice of meat (the sausage for us), baked beans, savoury home fries and toast. Don’t forget to bring your appetite – it’s a big, delicious breakfast! The Victory Waffles were the true star of Saturday morning. They were light and fluffy topped with berries, fresh made whipped cream and real maple syrup. They’re served with crispy bacon to balance out the sweetness and are easily the highlight of the brunch menu. This urbaneer had to stop herself from switching plates when her handsome companion looked away!
Our server gave us a bit of a tour and description of the restaurant – “This was once someone’s mansion. Now it’s our bar. Awesome, right?” We have to agree with him on that point! The Victory Café is open late and boasts an impressive craft beer list. We are very much looking forward to returning for a pint and some pub grub at this favourite neighbourhood spot!
