When standing at the corner of Bloor and Bathurst Streets it's easy to be distracted by the omnipresent glittering retail mecca that is Honest Ed’s. However, when you tear your eyes away from the Amusement Park facade and look across the street, you'll see The Green Beanery, Canada’s largest coffee equipment retail establishment. Well-established and regarded, this firm sells more roasters, grinders, and coffee makers than any other Canadian retailer. Plus, with a roastery that offers 90 varieties of coffees for purchase, it's also home to a great café to indulge their product in a comfortable social setting.
Fusing a rustic industrial vibe with comfortable seating and tables, the pretense-free space is well-suited to the neighbourhoood demographic of university students (as evidenced by the four Macbooks within a 10 foot radius of our table), coffee klatching locals, plus a date or two in the mix (not that we were actively eavesdropping on the first date sitting next to us). It’s the perfect place to sit down and get grounded or, in our case, craft a blog which brags about this amazingly awesome neighbourhood which we adore.
Although the scent of roasting coffee beans might compel most anyone to order java, team member Kellye firmly believes in the healing power of a London Fog Tea on a cold early winter (eek!) day. And yes, she did feel a bit sheepish sipping her calming mug of tea amidst the caffeine-induced cacophony of this coffee lovers’ heaven. Fortunately The Green Beanery also sells lots of yummy tasting sweets, so she could find an alternate sucrose fuel source to match the collective spirit of this space.
Like the Victory Cafe, the Green Beanery – located at 565 Bloor Street West – is yet another great spot to discover in the Mirvish Village/South Annex neighbourhood. Can you imagine having this coffee oasis steps from your home? Check out these two unique urban homes we're offering for rent called An Elegant Executive Rental Near Mirvish Village and An Executive Rental in B Street Condo located around the corner!
Have we piqued your interest in this neighbourhood or any of the other great Toronto neighbourhoods we specialize in? Send us an email – we welcome hearing from you!
