A Weekend Wandering The Danforth East Arts Fair On Sept 17th & 18th

City Living, East York, The Danforth

One of the best parts of being part of a cool community is being able to participate in events that entertain and inspire – both of which enrich life, no?

Parks are a vital part of urban living, and if you haven’t yet spent a leisurely afternoon in one of our faves –  East Lynn Park – we highly recommend it! It’s known as the beating heart of the Danforth East community, and there is something for everyone, every season of the year-literally.

I’ve written about East Lynn Park in the past, because it is one of those great parks that has so much for so many – wide open green space (a hectare!), lovely picnic areas, playgrounds, wading pool and even an ice skating rink during the winter. What’s not to love?!

East Lynn Park also hosts a weekly farmers market that usually runs from early summer to mid fall. It’s a great spot to get in season, super delicious produce and other market items, all while supporting local purveyors.

In the summer months, grab a cold beer and take in some live music at The Danny Loves Music Series.

What is perhaps the jewel in East Lynn Park’s crown is the Danforth East Arts Fair, hosted by one of the most vibrant community associations in the city: DECA (Danforth East Community Association).

This free and fun event runs this coming weekend, September 17-18, rain or shine! DECA describes the fair as showcasing “the work of an eclectic mix of local artists in a beautiful outdoor setting.” It’s a fine way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, noshing on fare from local restaurateurs, all while wandering and viewing all that these local artists have to offer. There is even live music to enjoy while you stroll!

Here’s what you need to know:

They even offer artist awards – like the popular “people’s choice” award, voted on by attendees – and a chance for visitors to win that special item they found at the event!

And a note from DECA: “Our team of volunteers is super excited to be offering this event in 2022 after a 2 year “pandemic gap”.  Hope to see you all there!”

Gifts, artwork and treasures are for sale to suit a wide range of budgets. Artwork is displayed in a number of mediums, in traditional and contemporary styles. Additionally, expect to see pottery, glass, woodworking, treats, bath and body goods and more. What’s for sure is that you’ll find all kinds of distinct, unique treasures, all while engaging with interesting people. It is a testament to this dynamic community and how proactive it is in procuring and nurturing local artistic talents, providing them with such a great showcase venue every year.

This is a great event for the whole family, with kids crafts and activities happening all day long onsite.

Toronto, as you know, is a city of neighbourhoods, where there is a patchwork of lifestyle, options and unique amenities. One of the best parts of living here is becoming a part of the many unique communities living in concert with one another.

Part of our service at Urbaneer is an understanding of what makes each of these neighbourhoods tick, and what amenities might be most appealing to a particular homeowner. Can we help you decide which neighbourhood might be best for you?
