Just this past week, Urbaneer stopped in at The Beaver Cafe (1192 Queen Street West at Northcote) for a little mid-day bite. We started with their great roasted squash, orange and nutmeg soup accompanied with freshly toasted baguette and a smoked salmon salad on arugula with capers, dill and cucumber. It absolutely hit the spot!
What element is it that truly makes a neighbourhood great? For us, it’s the local spots we’re drawn to on a frequent or even daily basis – be it for a morning cup o’ joe, a bite of lunch at mid-day, a week-end brunch with our buddies, or possibly even a late-night hang with a fave dj or a chance to shake it up on the dance floor. The Beaver Cafe is the real deal: a quintessential, authentic Parkdale local joint that does everything we’ve just described and even more in a totally relaxed and fly-under-the-radar kind of way.
Urbaneer encourages you visit to see which face of The Beav resonates with you the most. Bring a date for dinner. Have an Americano and check out the week’s featured artist whose work adorns the walls – this week features Laura-Lynn Petrick’s photographs. Sunday queer karaoke with the ever-enchanting Adam Cowan? Or one of the nightly (!) queer-friendly dance parties hosted by an ever-changing cast of fab, terrifically creative and quite adorable DJ’s. Be sure to explore the week’s event offerings at the Beaver Blog.
Whatever your heart may desire, we at Urbaneer know The Beaver will have something you’ll love!
