Poppies Plant of Joy On West Queen West

Queen West

Located at 1094 Queen Street West at Dovercourt, Poppies Plant of Joy is Urbaneer’s go-to flower spot in West Queen West. Nothing brightens our day like a shot of brilliant colour and fragrance only nature can provide, and Poppies delivers on all fronts by providing stunning arrangements smartly styled by proprietor Laura Tarbot.

Opened in 2002 on what was a formerly derelict stretch of Queen West, owner Laura chose her location intelligently and deliberately, with a visionary sense of good things to come. And rightly so, ‘West Queen West” has developed into one of the most dynamic of Toronto’s design districts.

With 15 years of experience in Toronto’s floral design industry, Laura’s ability to create stellar designs has garnered attention from a most demanding and star-studded clientele including Barbara Streisand, Elton John, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lauren Bacall, Queen Latifah, Sophia Loren, Denzel Washington, and Mike Myers, to name only a few.

Our fave item? Breath-taking and beautifully presented orchids in a stunning shade of plum for an affordable $29. Urbaneer encourages you to stop on by and have a look in person – think hand-tied bouquets, bespoke design bouquets and arrangements for all manner of occasions, unique potted plants ideal for indoor or out, and a fine assortment of housewares and design accessories.

Poppies is just one of many engaging retailers in West Queen West, like home furnishing shoppes INabstraco Mid Century Furniture and Design and Industrial Storm (next door to Queen West’s Bosley’ Real Estate Office!), and charming gift purveoyor Drake General Store. And you just can’t beat the delicious Breakwich at The Drake Hotel Cafe or the charming ambience of Luna on Dovercourt! Yum!

Do you love West Queen West like we do?
