If you’re new to Urbaneer.com, you may not know our boutique Toronto real estate site isn’t limited to properties for sale or rent, but also explores all manners of housing as it relates to place, culture and design. That’s why, if you go through our Blog Categories, you’ll see a number of different topics ranging from our Toronto Real Estate Forecasts, to our Dear Urbaneer Series that answers client questions. We also love to document our renovation projects, as seen in Rejuvinating The Button Factory, Renovating The Movie House Loft, and Tales From Tennis Crescent, which follows my ongoing journey of revitalizing a purpose-built duplex in Toronto’s Riverdale neighbourhood.
One of my other renovation series – called The Tales Of Upper Hillsborough – chronicles how my colleague and bestie, James, and I came to purchase – and then radically transform – a dilapidated three unit tenement in downtown historic Charlottetown. The blog shares nearly three dozen posts ranging from the house hunting journey, the scope of work we anticipated, and the reality of renovating – including a detailed summary of the final financial tally (we paid $153,000 and spent about $600,000!). It’s a great read for those looking for comprehensive insights on tackling a vintage property. If you’re keen for a quick introduction along with some Before and After pics, you can also check out this story by Discover Charlottetown, entitled, How I Came To Transform A Vintage Home In Charlottetown, PEI.
This week, we were lucky enough to be featured in PEI Living magazine’s Fall Issue. The piece, “Guest Wishes”, cast the spotlight on one of the 2 bedrooms in our Attic Atelier – one of seven bedrooms under The Black House roof which contains 3 bespoke furnished suites we offer for rent when we’re not staying there ourselves.
We’re thrilled and flattered, so thanks PEI Living Magazine!

Have you ever been to Prince Edward Island? It’s nothing less than magical, where nature is a dance of primary colours – seen in the red soil, rolling green fields and crisp blue skies. It’s the ultimate setting for easy-breezy island living!
As we love to say at The Black House… “It’s this way… to welcome!”
