When I embarked on the renovation journey of my Movie House loft I, well, reached for the stars. This place is my version of a bespoke hotel residential suite.
Executing a deluxe reno to the highest calibre and standards is not easy. Perfection is in the details. And given there are still a few more to go, including a new custom stainless steel art rail from Stylegarage which I ordered late, a few touchups from the inevitable nicks and bumps, a little bit of custom millwork I had missed on the original order, plus the installation of some terrific light fixtures, I still can’t show you the whole place. Still, I’m enjoying this Peek-A-View Series. Aren’t you?
By the time my place is complete it will be ten months from start to finish…which is pretty typical for any one undertaking a major redo from top to bottom. Phew! I’m exhausted, yet I’m also ready to continue expressing my self through more creative design adventures. It’s a good thing I have my triplex out east (Are you reading the Tales of Upper Hillsborough here?), plus a number of clients who are enlisting my assistance for design ideas. Lucky Me!
Dark stained ebony floors ground a soft sun-dappled living room in a converted former Movie House. Soft linen draperies, massive newly-installed crown mouldings, and a silver-leaf ceiling make the soaring vintage arched window take centre-stage in this dramatic room. What was once a 1970s caramel velour sectional has been reupholstered in a stylish Calvin Klein fabric, complete with new skirt and tufting for an elegant tailored look. Love!
Stay tuned for more Movie House reveal.
