Nuit Social In West Queen West

City Living, Little Portugal, Queen West, Restaurants

The sun is shining, the humidity is a wee bit heavy, and patio culture… well, it’s how restaurants are generating revenue over and beyond delivery as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic! Welcome to Toronto in July!

Now that we’re becoming accustomed to using masks and a lot of hand sanitizer – and if you want to genuinely embrace all that we love about Summer – enjoy some downtime catching up with friends on the patio of Nuit Social!

Nuit Social adds its own unique flair to the already exciting West Queen West patio scene. The interior of the restaurant is spare yet chic. The sleek wood floors and minimal aesthetic serve to highlight the space’s most spectacular feature: the gorgeous ‘stained glass’ bar.  While I’m always a fan of chic interiors, I simply can’t resist a patio!

Nestled among the trees behind the restaurant, Nuit Social has created an outdoor oasis that is simultaneously exclusive and welcoming. The patio is delightfully isolated from the hustle and bustle of Queen Street by an on-trend horizontal slat fence. This intimate space feels like you’re hanging out in the backyard of your most fabulous friend. Globe lights are strung across the patio and give the patio a decidedly romantic vibe as the sun dips lower in the sky.

Nuit Social has wholeheartedly embraced social dining and features an impressive menu focused on building your own cheese and charcuterie platters. Charcuterie has moved beyond a trend into a menu mainstay for the hip and happening Toronto restos. It’s more than just meat and cheese.  It’s the perfect vehicle to encourage casual grazing while carrying on a conversation (with a wine glass in hand!). Nuit Social’s menu also includes entrée size social plates as well as a truly intriguing cocktail menu. We were tempted by the Happy Hour special of half-price social plates but ultimately settled on two social boards with a mix of three kinds of cheese and three types of meat (with a glass or two of well-paired wine!). Boards are served with bread and delicious accompaniments. Honestly, everything we ate was delicious, but the standout was the Heliodora Rosemary cheese – a goat’s milk cheese from Spain rolled in rosemary and bathed in olive oil. Muy delicioso! We’re already planning a repeat visit to try the social plates and cocktails!
