Judy’s Island Grill In Little Jamaica Is A Flavourful Favourite!

C03, Restaurants

Next time you’re near Dufferin & Eglinton and hunger pangs hit, we have an awesome recommendation for you, right in Toronto’s Little Jamaica!  Nestled on Eglinton Ave W between Dufferin and Oakwood, you’ll find the (very delicious) Judy’s Island Grill, which has become not only a community favourite, but somewhat of a landmark in this midtown neighbourhood!

Judy’s is family owned and operated, and in my opinion, they serve some of the highest quality, mouth watering Caribbean dishes. While the restaurant opened its doors in Toronto in 2007, it’s actually the fourth location, preceded by three in Maryland and Georgia.  Sheryl Bryan – along with her husband Mark –  run the beloved Toronto location, while sibling Judy Bryan – Yes, ‘that‘ Judy! – splits her time between the US locations and is the face of the franchise.

This gem usually has a line up outside the door when we’ve visited – but it’s worth the wait! The staff are warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable about all their fab dishes, and while it’s best know for take-out, there are a few tables inside to enjoy your food. (Judy’s even does catering!)

Looking for some flavourful suggestions? We’ve got you covered.

Island Fried Chicken is a must (yum!!) and no Caribbean specialty would be complete without Oxtails. I love jerk chicken!

Reviews say it best: Judy’s is a must!

“I live in the neighbourhood, and Judy’s is a recent discovery for us. What a gem! They have quickly become our go-to caribbean spot. The jerk chicken is phenomenal, with a little gravy on it!! Escovitch is great, goat curry is great. We have to do stew chicken next. One of the other super nice things is how nice everyone there is. I feel welcomed and am happy to give them my business, now, and for a long time to come. I highly recommend!” – Yelp Review

Judy’s Island Grill is by far the best Caribbean restaurant on Eglinton! I was there last evening and purchased a large fry chicken meal, as well as a curry goat and oxtail combo. The gentleman behind the counter put a lot of care into preparing our food. I especially appreciated that the fried chicken was kept hot in an oven so it was hot and crispy! In addition, the restaurant is very clean and the cutlery is individually packaged which is nice. We will definitely return again!– Google Review

Meet Sheryl, chef and owner of Judy’s. Sheryl and her whole team are so welcoming. You walk into her spot and there is the most delicious hot table filled with scratch made Jamaican food. There are also the most delicious home made juices. You can get great jerk but also the best juiciest shrimp. Her sweet potato pudding is a must. Check out the bbq chicken as something different and greens are always the best.– Google Review

Excite your tastebuds with a trip to Little Jamaica and find out why this is a community – and city – favourite!  Earning 4.5 stars on Google, Judy’s Island Grill will leave you saying “…and what are tomorrow’s specials?”
