Find Inspiration At The Interior Design Show Toronto 2017

House And Home

IDS Toronto, now in its 19th year, is Canada’s largest contemporary design fair, and will be held from January 19th to January 22nd. As a stage for our country’s latest and greatest design talents, you can be sure that every room will be packed – with designers and fans alike – hoping to catch a whiff of the newest trends in interior design.

The 19th edition of Canada’s design fair celebrates leading brands, innovative presentations and rising local talents. What happens on this single 4-day weekend in Toronto shapes the industry for the year to come – in North America and beyond! Since the doors first opened in 1999, IDS has been visited by over 700,000 design professionals, design-savvy consumers, and media.

This January, IDS will be spotlighting Canadian-made products, industry heavyweights, small-batch designers, and a plethora of exciting speakers, including Scott McGillivray of HGTV fame, Globe Style columnist Jeanne Beker, and Canadian designer and TV host Tommy Smythe.

This year, David Adjaye is the IDS17 International Guest Of Honour. Recognized as a “leading architect of his generation”, David will be presenting a one hour seminar on Friday, January 20th, Professional Trade Day.

“Adjaye was born in Tanzania to Ghanaian parents and his influences range from contemporary art, music and science to African art forms and the civic life of cities. His studio, Adjaye Associates, has offices in London, New York and Accra. His most recent work, The National Museum of African American History and Culture on Washington’s National Mall, is regarded as one of the most radical monuments of our time. The four hundred thousand square foot building exudes every ounce of architectural impact as it does cultural significance – a true demonstration of Adjaye’s ability to dissolve barriers and accommodate difference through design.” – toronto.interiordesignshow.com

Also causing a stir of excitement is the unveiling of Jaime Hayon’s exhibit – Stone Age Folk – in partnership with Caesarstone Canada. In this “whimsical universe inspired by the natural and mythical worlds, fauna and folklore, Hayon blends fantasy with his signature artisan skill.” He will also be presenting an Azure Trade Talk on Friday, January 20.

An inspirational showcase of new products and furniture, superstar designers, and avant-garde concepts, IDS is not just a fair — it’s a total design experience. We hope you enjoy exploring what makes the design world so exciting and inspiring!
