Great Places For Food In Victoria

Uncategorized

It’s no secret I love to dine out. Yesterday I raved about Pagliacci’s…but here are a few more of my favourite lite bite places in Victoria.

Canoe Brewpub & Marina
450 Swift Street
Victoria, B.C.
1-250-361-1940

Canoe Brewpub, Marina and Restaurant, is located on the waterfront in Victoria’s active inner harbour in the ‘Design District’. Located in a Designated Heritage site the building, originally named The City Lights Building, was erected in 1894 to house the coal fired electric generators that powered Victoria’s streetlights. Being an obvious fan of Innovative Spaces and the Adaptive Reuse of Architecture, I find the setting spectacular inside and out. And with a commitment to organic food (even a gluten-free menu) and sustainability (including a handcrafted beer) this is a great example of being Green.

Here’s a pic of the Chicken and Shirmp Cobb Salad and some Yam Frites we devoured!

Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub & Guesthouses
308 Catherine Street
Victoria, B.C.
1-877-838-2739

Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub & Guesthouses is another waterfront destination about a ten minute drive from downtown. Only the purest, freshest ingredients are used in Spinnakers recipes from organic local produce, to grain fed Highland beef and Metchosin turkey, Wild Pacific Salmon, fresh Pacific halibut, and free range eggs. Many of the fresh herbs used in the dishes are picked from the guesthouse gardens. Made on the premises, fresh baked desserts and handmade truffles are served for the final touch. Spinnakers own Malt Vinegar is served in the restaurant, brewed from Jamesons Scottish Ale, also used in sauces and marinades. Spinnakers Restaurant is consistently voted Victoria’s favourite by Monday Magazine and Newsgroup readers polls.

We indulged on West Coast chowder, fish cakes with kale and a Roasted Chicken Curry!

De’lish Fine Foods
677 St. Patrick Street
Victoria, B.C.
1-250-598-5610

Not too far from Willow’s Beach (which I blogged about on Monday) is a cute little cafe called De’lish. My friend Beth and I, now celebrating 36 years of friendship, popped in for a couple of lattes, a vegetable frittata and some macaroni and cheese!

Stay tuned for more dining in Victoria!
