Fit Is Fabulous In Toronto’s Liberty Village Neighbourhood

City Living, King West / Niagara / Liberty Village

With Thanksgiving behind us and the Christmas ahead (also known as “cheat week” for those on healthy eating regimens), we’re right in that busy break where keeping fit takes a back seat to Holiday preparations.

So, why not get a productive habit started now, before the New Year arrives and everyone tries to get back to the gym at the same time?

There is no time like the present to re-think your fitness routine, and trying something new might just be the kickstart you need! What might you enjoy trying our or taking on now that amenities have reopened?

Here are some great options, all right in one of our fave ‘hoods: Liberty Village!

Joe Rockhead’s Indoor Climbing

Have you ever tried rock climbing? Hello core strength and upper body! This is a fun and social way to get trim and challenge yourself.

Joe Rockhead’s Indoor Climbing Gym was Canada’s first, established in 1990. It has been at its current Liberty Village location for 20 years. It came about when the owners, hooked after trying rock climbing, wanted somewhere to continue their passion during the winter months.

Joe Rockhead’s appeals to beginners through advanced climbers, with introduction classes, as well as an array of ever-changing climbing paths, giving regular climbers ongoing challenges.  Their huge facility (22 000 sq ft.!) means lots of opportunity to change things up, no matter if you are bouldering, top rope climbing, and lead climbing.

You can take a beginner class or get a membership. It’s also a cool spot for a corporate outing!

Pure Yoga

The clientele at Pure Yoga are tight-knit, welcoming and committed. They extend an invitation to “every body, shape, size, age, and status; employed, or between jobs, student, or retiree, single or divorcee, mother, father, grandparent”.

There are many yoga studios around Toronto, but this Liberty Village facility is funky and gritty, very much reflecting the neighbourhood in which it is located.

The specialty here is Hot Yoga, which is an absolute must if you’ve never tried it. Exhilarating and detoxifying, it is a gratifying practice for body and soul.

F45 Training Liberty Village

If you really want a fitness challenge, you might want to check out F45 training at F45 Liberty Village.

If you’re not familiar, F45 training is “functional training” combining HIIT and circuit workouts that strengthen your body based on everyday style movements. It’s intense, cardio-focused and fun. No question, you will torch calories in a relatively short amount of time. We love the MyZone technology, which includes a band around your chest that tracks calories burned and monitors heart rate – regardless of what excercise or activity. It’s quite motivating!

This isn’t just for hardcore athletes; the basis of these exercises is meant to increase your overall fitness, as well as reduce likelihood of injury from everyday movements – which is more common than you might think!

The workout is done in instructor-led group classes, that move you through circuits or exercises, split into classes emphasizing cardio, resistance training or a hybrid of the two. The group dynamic is interactive motivating and fun. Oh, and there is a live DJ!

You are more likely to stick to a fitness routine if it is convenient. That means, if you’ve got great fitness facilities within a quick stroll from your front door, being fit is one habit that will stick! Check out this loft listing we sold in January 2021! Live The Luxe Loft Life In Liberty Village – which was also conveniently located to these fabulous fitness options!
