Easy-Breezy Outdoor Holiday Sparkle!

Design, Landscape

The holiday season is upon us! Despite the pandemic and long hours spent indoors and in isolation – particularly in the Winter/Spring, we feel that the year passed by pretty quickly – don’t you? Regardless, there are only three more sleeps till Christmas morning!

Not everyone has the time, inclination, or exterior space to celebrate their love for Yuletide, but for those that do, here are some easy ways to bring a little outdoor Holiday Sparkle to you and yours.

One freebie before we begin: Don’t overdo it!!

Holiday Outside

Get all atwinkle with Holiday Lights, and don’t forget to add floodlight in your yard. Not only does Outdoor Lighting Offer A Great Return On Investment but – as in the brick-walled garden at The Button Factory – it visually expanded the sense of space while creating pretty sightlines.

Keep it simple, as I did here by adding a string of multi-coloured lights behind one of the original factory windows at The Button Factory at 200 Clinton Street.

Five strings of energy-efficient LED lights on a timer suspended on one of three screens constructed of recycled materials by brilliant thingmaker Dave Hind made my Movie House patio festive.

A pair of vintage skis and poles on the Side Porch of The Black House is a great nod to the season.

I love creating Holiday vignettes, like filling a planter with evergreen boughs, birch branches and old snowshoes with twinkle lights. Pair it with a wreath, and you’re set!

A lot of folks on PEI place Holiday Lights around the perimeter of their homes to bring Joy & Community Spirit to their neighbours. So of course, you reciprocate! Both neighbours behind The Black House help make Winter twinkle.

The most wonderful time of the year can be even merrier with just a touch of festive holiday lighting & decor – less is more!

…. And a fresh fluffy snowfall helps too! 😉

Happy holidays from Urbaneer! May it find you happy, healthy, joyful, and delightfully exhausted at the end of it all!
