Part of the life of an 'action-janet-on-the-go realtor' includes grabbing a bite at the eateries which are steps from the properties we promote. Not only does it provide sustenance, but it gives us the opportunity to explore the flavour of each location literally, and figuratively! In fact, just the other, while we were touring available properties in the Yonge and Eglinton midtown neighbourhood, we stopped by Douce France Cafe, a charming French patisserie to escape the rain and have a little treat.
Located on Yonge Street just north of Eglinton Avenue, Douce France Cafe is a destination for pastries, chocolates and coffee. Most of their products are made with ingredients imported from France, crafted by passionate artisans who learned using recipes and know-how from past generations.
For all the mouth-watering selections, we decided to keep it simple with a buttery croissant and café au lait. After all, what could be more perfect for a mid-afternoon snack? The croissant was light and flaky, making it sufficiently irresistible that we ordered another half-dozen to enjoy the next morning.
The proprietor, Christel, is originally from Paris and grew up in a family of bakers and pastry chefs. Extremely particular about the quality of her specialties, she works directly with the artisans themselves to ensure the quality and authenticity of the products. We love not only the delicious cakes, biscuits and confectionaries available, but also jams and chutneys to try or purchase as a gift.
Take a look…
After our mini-break we were re-energized and ready to take on the world again…or at least Midtown Toronto.
But it wasn't before we picked up a few goodies to bring home.
Douce France Cafe is an ideal little spot for a visit with a friend or a client meeting.
It’s a bit like stepping into a chic Parisian neighbourhood cafe!
