Country Respite

Given the life of a realtor entails working when your clients are not, you can pretty much count on showing properties evenings and weekends. This can leave limited opportunities to catch some Rest and Relaxation, which is why when a Statutory Holiday like Victoria Day presents itself, I do my best to squeeze in a quick getaway.

Lucky for me, my best friends’ M ‘n J own a 100acre farm near Kinmount, Ontario, located less than a three hour drive northeast from downtown Toronto. It’s your quintessential Ontario farm complete with horses, geese, a tractor and a barn. Plus an amazing array of rolling fields, streams and a woodlot to get lost in. From the moment I arrived Saturday midday I felt like I’d come Home, in part because a huge batch of oatmeal raisin cookies had just come out of the oven leaving a scent wafting out the kitchen window. Just like I remembered as a kid. Bliss!

Although I’ve stayed in M ‘n J’s homes perched on the island of Saba in the Carribean and overlooking a volcano near the Patagonias of Chile, this was my first time visiting their farm. I loved every minute of my journey and stay…there’s nothing better than a road trip to help release one from the trials and tribulations of everyday living. Plus they’re the kind of hosts who have no issue if you do your own thing hiking, reading or napping mid-afternoon. Lucky Me!

It doesn’t take long to get grounded when surrounded by Mother Nature. Brilliant eh? Now I’m recharged and ready to roll. Bring it on real estate Gods!
