Community Connections At Trace Manes Park

Midtown

Undeniably, one of the most important parts of urban living is access to green space for leisure and exercise. Urban parks play a crucial role in the fabric of a community, both in terms of aesthetics and elevating lifestyle.

Some hidden gems go even a step further and are a gathering place that is reflective of the community members that are connected to the park – and to each other.

One such place is Trace Manes Park on Rumsey Road, just east of Bayview, which divides Leaside from Davisville Village.

With a splash pad, wading pool, playground, ball diamonds, lots of green space, picnic areas and tennis courts, this is truly a family-friendly destination.

This park is also home to the Leaside Tennis Club, with programming for all abilities and ages, as well as several courts upon which to play, including lit ones.

The park also features the Trace Manes Park Community Centre, where there is a tons of different programs, courses and clubs, offering opportunities for all ages in sports, arts, leisure and recreation. There are also multi-purpose meeting rooms, which are great for your get-together.

Additionally, this park features a backstory that is a testament to the community in which it was built, and it literally represents their union and support of each other.

The park was recently revitalized, in memory of young local resident Georgia Walsh, who was tragically killed when she was six years old in 2014. The community rallied around the family and set to doing something meaningful to help the family- and the community heal, by fundraising.

Together with the city of Toronto, the Remembering Georgia Walsh Foundation raised funds to revitalize the park, included the wonderful playground where area families gather to spend time together today. There is a donor wall in the park, and there is a dedication ceremony planned for the fall of 2024, in memory of Georgia.

It is a testament to how the residents of this tight-knit community care for one another.

Want to have someone on your side?

Since 1989, I’ve steered my career through a real estate market crash and burn; survived a slow painful cross-country recession; completed an M.E.S. graduate degree from York University called ‘Planning Housing Environments’; executed the concept, sales & marketing of multiple new condo and vintage loft conversions; and guided hundreds of clients through the purchase and sale of hundreds of freehold and condominium dwellings across the original City of Toronto. From a gritty port industrial city into a glittering post-industrial global centre, I’ve navigated the ebbs and flows of a property market as a consistent Top Producer. And I remain as passionate about it today as when I started.
