Tucked away in the heart of Toronto’s Distillery District, Cluny Bistro & Boulangerie caters to culinary connaisseurs, comfort food lovers, and everyone in-between. Featuring an adventurous yet unpretentious menu inspired by France’s modern food movement, as well as stunning design, an alluring atmosphere, and attentive service, Cluny is a top-shelf establishment frequented by locals and travelers alike – and is one of our favourites! Did you know it’s been voted ‘Best French Restaurant in Toronto’ by USA Today and appears on the Top Lists of popular culture sites like BlogTO?

Located at the corner of Tank House Lane and Rack House Mews, Cluny Bistro is comprised of a 11,000 square foot space designed by Studio Munge, one of Canada’s top hospitality design firms. Boasting a well-informed staff of food and wine professionals, inspirational expert chefs, a high-styled dining room, adjacent cafe, and 3 patios, this is one of the most beloved restaurants in Toronto’s Distillery District.

Some of my favourite dishes include The Flaky Beef Dip (a braised beef short rib with horseradish aioli) and the Twice Baked Sweet Pea & Ricotta Souffle (which is what I believe a dish from Heaven would be) prepared with roasted ricotta, fresh Ontario peas, sugar snaps and basil oil. I will never pass up a Crème Brulee (Hello, Pistachio Crème Brulee!) and I will always, always, always finish the French way with an espresso, house-made macaron, and a digestif.
Truly, this Bistro is the perfect spot for a romantic evening, a small gathering of friends, or simply keeping your own company if you’re lamenting a broken heart and crave a good cry with an excellent bottle of wine. The space is breathtaking, the staff is friendly and the food is… well I’m actually heading back there imminently because recounting this has made me hungry!

***In the shadow of the pandemic, Cluny Bistro – like all restaurants in Toronto – is currently operating under modified hours and services. They are committed to following the appropriate restrictions and guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Here is their Facebook post from October 9th:
“In compliance with emergency public health guidelines, our dining room will be temporarily closed. For now, we will continue to offer safe and compliant outdoor dining that aims to go above and beyond all instruction and guidance set by local government and official public health organizations on our patio. We are also working hard to launch delivery options in the very near future — stay tuned.
We are committed to doing our part to help flatten the curve and look forward to returning to indoor dining once it is deemed safe again. What’s at stake is not lost on us; indeed, it is what is driving us. For patio reservations and more information on what we’re doing to keep everyone safe, please visit clunybistro.com. Please support your local Distillery Restaurants by visiting any outdoor host stand to order takeout food starting Saturday, October 10th (we will LOVE you for it). Thank you so much for your continued support of our people and their livelihoods “
We hope to see you back at full service very soon, Cluny!!
