A Sip Of Summer At Bud’s Coffee Bar In The Beaches

Beaches, Restaurants

We love to hit the street – even in the summer heat! One afternoon, we discovered this cute java joint along Queen Street East!

Now located at Queen and Kenilworth Avenue in the Beach neighbourhood, Bud’s Coffee Bar is a trendy spot for a brew in the Beaches ‘hood. A truly beloved little space which offers a gentle and light-filled opportunity to unwind or delve into whichever pet project you’ve got on the go, Bud’s proprietor Ken Galbraith is a uniquely enigmatic character, having built up his solid barista chops at several indie hot spots in the city. They’re a super fun to follow on Insta:

The focus here, as in any good neighbourhood java stop is the coffee, but other light fare can be had as well. Only espresso here – no drip, to keep things simple and minimal. When you add the fact that they carry fresh baked goods from nearby Desmond & Beatrice bakery at 388 Carlaw Avenue, in Leslieville, you’ve got a winning combination. Gluten-free treats come courtesy of Queen B Pastry – yum! Best be early, lest only the crumbs remain – especially if we at urbaneer have been in for a visit! And the breakfast sandwich (from Porch Light) is scrumptious!

Whether you choose the buttery Desmond & Beatrice scones or their super fresh nutty banana bread, you’ve got an ideal accompaniment to Bud’s standard americano, or their state of the art cappuccino, featuring their go-to roast sourced from Sam James (their dark roast espresso is James’s Cut Coffee, for those who like to be in the know). Either way, a truly perfect afternoon pick-me-up for your realtor-on- the-go!

And with Kew Gardens, the Beaches Library and Balmy Beach just a short jaunt away, this is a great spot to pick up a brew to take on your afternoon adventures!

Along with our faves like Whitlocks for brunch or the ever popular Sauvignon Bistro for a delightful evening repast, Bud’s Coffee Bar is yet another great spot to discover in the Beaches neighbourhood.

Thanks to BlogTO for the use of three of their photos, and Buds Coffee Bar for the use of a few of their fun Insta snaps!
