For those of us who live or work near West Queen West, we know there’s no shortage of lunch options, with pizza, poutine, and burritos being the local stars. While it can be hard to resist the convenient (and blissfully delicious) fast food options, I think we all have that little voice in our heads, nagging us toward healthier, more active living. So, if you’re in search of a meal that’s nutritious but still easy, we recommend bypassing the ubiquitous foot-long sandwich chain for sustenance that’s more ‘real’!
Placed between The Drake and The Gladstone, two of Toronto’s hippest boutique hotels, Snaccs x Bolt brings a welcome infusion of healthier fare to the West Queen West landscape.

The Urbaneer Team often stops in at Bolt for lunch, in search of serious brain food during a particularly busy day. The staff is not only warm and welcoming but, more importantly, extremely knowledgeable about their menu.
A perusal of offerings like salads and grain bowls – along with homemade soups and stews that change daily – demonstrate Bolt’s devotion to the fresh and seasonal.
I’m a particular fan of the cold-pressed juices, which are weekly must-haves for me, for their detoxifying or energizing benefits! Bolt is all about meals that taste good as well as make you feel good!
One of my favs is the Vitamin Sea Bowl – an inspired quinoa bowl filled with a mixture of toppings including avocado, seaweed and kelp noodles anchored with a tangy lemon tahini dressing. Some wonderful crunchy carrots pickled with Rosemary were substituted for the kimchi, making it a much-needed hit of freshness on a dreary day! While every ingredient in this scrumptious selection speaks to me, I appreciate that for those who are a bit more finicky, the option exists to create your own meal; simply choose salad or grain and add your choice of fresh ingredients!

Not only do I always leave satisfied, but I find fueling the body with nourishing fare also helps bypass the dreaded post-lunch ‘blahs’.
