Fall is upon us!! The time for BBQs and patio parties is waning, but September’s ‘sweatshirt weather’ is excellent for long strolls through the City, discovering new shops & restos!
Curious about brewing and eager to sample new craft beers? In our beer bible, Blood Brothers is a must-visit!
Brothers Brayden and Duston Jones started with homebrewing (when they repurposed old dairy equipment to create their small-batch wonders) but have now successfully upsized their operation with a move to Toronto’s burgeoning new post-industrial ‘warehouse district’ on Geary Avenue, where artisanal upstarts, studios, and galleries are popping up with increasing frequency. Located at 165 Geary Ave, these up-an-coming master makers have created a factory-style space to sell their brews, which feature intriguing occult-themed labels and artwork.

It’s not only a popular hot spot for residents living in the Christie Pits, Wychwood, Dovercourt Village, and Bloorcourt Village neighbourhoods surrounding this hot spot, but it also draws in crowds from across Toronto. As they gain momentum, they’re not only creating new daring brews for the tastemakers and adventurists but also ones that are sure to please any palate.

With a plethora of craft brewery operations within the GTA, it’s a testament to their product that their location is so well-frequented. In fact, one of our close friends just announced that two of Blood Brothers’ offerings were their favourite summer beers this year!

So what’s their key to success?
Brayden and Duston are proud to have retained complete creative control over their brews, and their uniform vision has ensured that their business and spectrum of products have always retained a certain cohesiveness. The most recent step in executing their business plan has involved expanding into local delivery and bottle shop service.

Blood Brothers Brewing now offers 5 taps, indoor dining, an outdoor patio, and a flavourful food menu, not to mention a delightfully chill vibe and a sense of camaraderie between owners and patrons.
It’s not easy to pick our favourites, but here’s what we’d recommend! Paradise Lost has an excellent sour balance, with notes of guava and toasted coconut. Inner Eye Pale Ale – perhaps our favourite in the summer heat – is both floral and citrusy – and do we detect… tropical fruit? It’s also always worth sampling Bear Worship, which has a dry finish. You can really taste the tangerine and cinnamon!
