Sipping on a tasty craft beer is a real treat, but I find it’s even more rewarding with the knowledge that it’s locally made! This past summer, it became one of my favourite spots to sit and savour a pint with friends, occasionally followed by a walk through TB Park with an ice cream cone!

In my opinion, one of Toronto’s best craft breweries (and brewpub) is the Bellwoods Brewery. It started small and has grown quickly over the years. They now have two locations and a far-reaching online marketplace – shipping their signature brews far and wide.
Their focus is on creating simple, but savoury brews; some heavy on the hops, others delightful lagers, and more still with delightful fruity undertones. I love that they’re always tweaking their recipes in experimentation, and have a decidedly creative approach to their brew process.
If you needed any more proof that this is a pub hub worth visiting, I discovered that some of their brews are award-winning as well, with numerous accolades since they were established in 2012. Here’s a new one – cheekily named – that they’ve been working on for over a year:
In addition to their original location at 124 Ossington, they bought and amalgamated 126 Ossington in order to have a tasting room and brewpub adjacent to their brew facility. It’s an undeniably hip place to share a beer with friends; the second-floor mezzanine gives you a birds-eye view right into the brewhouse, so you can witness the beer-making magic in real-time. When the weather is nice – Spring through to Fall – I particularly like the lovely (and lively!) patio. It’s a must-visit!
Buying brews is a breeze through their Shopify online market; have them delivered right to your door, or you can visit the bottle shop in person to grab takeaway.
They offer a good selection of beers (of course), wines, ciders and spirits. They also have a yummy pub-style menu to pair with your tasting flights, including burgers, fries, sourdough bread, crispy chicken sandwiches, and various salads…. the comfort food classics!
My favourite thing about Bellwoods Brewery? The location! It can be part of an afternoon or evening filled with other fun adventures, like trying a new restaurant (Union, anyone?), visiting the nearby farmer’s market, playing a game of frisbee golf, or simply lounging in Trinity Bellwoods Park!
