A Modern Merger
May 18, 2011

For a fellow who has spent a good chunk of his career being involved in the conversion of vintage warehouses into cool lofty spaces, I find the reuse of buildings or their materials into something new a remarkably fresh and green way to elevate our living environments.
Case in point, this 2008 cottage rebuild located in Chile used recycled commercial laminated beams and steel pieces from a temporary exhibition for the structural shell, wrapped it in glazed doors from a 1960s house and then sheathed the exterior in eucalyptus and native rauli parquet floors from a 1970s house! Isn't that amazing?
