On this sunny weekday, Urbaneer stopped in for a much needed break and a bite of lunch at La Cubana, one of Roncesvalles Village’s newest additions. Situated at 392 Roncesvalles Avenue, just a few steps south of Howard Park, La Cubana is the brain child of the lovely and very talented Corrina Mozo, who was the founder of the famed Delux on Ossington. Delux closed this past summer after over 6 years of very successful business, and we’re pleased to report Corrina and her compatriots have a new venture in the works. If Delux and La Cubana are any indication, we can’t wait!
La Cubana features bold and bright flavours, speedy and cheerful service, and a gregarious and friendly clientele! One handsome patron couldn’t resist waving at me through the front window as I snapped the photo below.
Isn’t that adorable?
Are you in love? I think I am!!
I decided to sidle on up for counter service at La Cubana’s open kitchen. It’s a perfect perch to take in the action.
From the Sandwiches and Medianoches menu, I ordered an Achiote Chicken Sandwich with Avocado and Fresh Tomato, accompanied by an Avocado Salad with Hearts of Palm, Orange and Bibb Lettuce. Yum!
A return trip to sample and savour a few more of their outstanding offerings is definitely a must.
I plan on bringing my friend Coco, who is a self-professed aficionado on all things CUBANO!
