Gusto 101 Near King West & Portland

King West / Niagara / Liberty Village

Part of the beauty of big city living is having a never ending supply of amazing eateries to indulge in and people watch.

And despite the chill in the air this past weekend, having the sun peek out was all we Torontonians needed to fill the streets and cafes with a parade of the fashionably good looking.

Yup, this city is filled with the beautiful.

My fab client, who is my go-to on all the best places in town, joined me for brunch at Gusto 101, located at 101 Portland just north of King West. You know, in the ‘hood where all the cool kids hang out.

Said gorgeous client LOVES Gusto 101 for dinner, lunch, brunch or wine-o:clock. With her loft just steps away, she’s been watching this delish Italian restaurant transform from a former mechanic’s garage into a carefully crafted culinary incarnation. She swears the food is always good, and I gotta say my scrambled eggs with sage and cheese was yum. However, as a lover of intelligent clever design, what caused me to salivate was the rustic comfort of the main floor interior, and the stunning just completed top floor terrace which boasts a massive retractable glass canopy and a green wall (this cost $$$$$!). Here’s some pics:

Gusto 101 has all the right ingredients for convivial satiating comfort. Whether you live in the neighbourhood or not, this is definitely a place to check out.
