Where can you go in the city and find some of the most delicious food in one spot – prepared meals as well as quality pantry items?
At Dish Cooking Studio, of course! They are your one-stop-shop for coffee, croissants, baked goods, sandwiches, pantry essentials, prepared frozen meals, and the list goes on. And the best part? If you love their food as much as we know you will, they even offer virtual cooking classes!
Now that is service.

Tucked away in Little Italy, one of our favourite Toronto neighbourhoods, Dish Cooking Studio remains open to the public under Ontario’s current Covid guidelines, meaning masks are mandatory, hand sanitizing is available and suggested, and they ask their clients to social distance once inside. Despite some of these changes, their food is still mouth-watering and worth the trip!
Dish is definitely a unique neighbourhood culinary destination as they prioritize fresh and local as much as possible. From local ingredients, produce, products, etc., the cafe serves up a daily menu that is simple, seasonal, and well-curated.
Offerings include salads, quiche, soups, stews, various meats and cheeses, as well as portions of ready-made meals (like casseroles) that you can also purchase whole on a day where you know you won’t have time to cook! And that’s just the beginning; Dish’s ‘pantry’ stocks their favourite well-priced oils, spices, mustards, vinegars, cheeses, and much much more – we always find it’s difficult to leave empty-handed!
And their desserts?? Well…. 🙂
Here’s what we recommend at Dish to satisfy your taste buds:
• In their front-of-house cafe, get one of their yummy gluten-free brownies or freshly baked croissants with a hot and tasty brewed coffee from local coffee roasters, Detour.
• From their “grab and go” menu, try their famous BBQ chicken wrap if you’re in a hurry for a quick scrumptious lunch.
• From their pantry essentials, we recommend giving their Portuguese olive oil a try because goes with practically everything!
• And their frozen prepared meals are always a crowd-pleaser, especially their frozen quiches; the fresh flavours change with the seasons!

And if you’re in the mood to try something different during the pandemic that is safe and diverting, consider their virtual cooking classes! Best part? The menu changes according to the seasons so there’s always something new to learn.

In their own words, the purveyors of Dish are “creating a holistic food experience – one that is thoughtful, helpful and flavourful. By giving people the opportunity to cook, eat, and shop under one roof, Dish becomes distinctly different than other neighbourhood culinary destinations. It’s this curated collection of hand-picked ingredients that will fill our shelves, invigorate our menu and inspire our teaching. And it’s with those ingredients that we, here, and you, at home, have the makings of more memorable meals to enjoy with friends and family. ” -DishCookingStudio

“We look forward to resuming our in-person cooking classes as they are accessible, fun and collaborative,” says Courtney Pitchford (Dish’s General Coordinator). Until then, you can try their foods from the comfort of your home as they offer delivery anywhere in the GTA every Thursday and Friday, and they are open for business Tuesdays to Fridays from 12-6pm.
