Nothing beats the magic of serendipity.
Like suggesting to clients we meet at The Emerson on Bloor at Lansdowne for dinner, only to discover said clients have a close connection to the restaurant itself – that being Conor (pictured below).
Conor is a culinary magician. His hands wave with a deft flourish to create some hot diggity tasty food.
On my visit I ordered all the ‘side’ dishes as a tasting plate and reveled in brussel sprouts, frites, a cole slaw, greens with chevre and a sweet potato pie for $20.
Yum!
For the young, upwardly mobile and budget-conscious set who are snapping up properties both north and south of Bloor from Dufferin west to Symington, The Emerson and Whippoorwill Pub are two of many sizzling destinations for nibbles and libations which have recently opened. As the tatty furniture and dollar stores begin to fade away, funky galleries and other entrepreneurial hot spots are taking up residence signalling the neighbourhoods of Bloordale and Wallace/Emerson – former bastions of Italian and Portuguese immigrants – are in the throes of gentrification.
We’re excited and, incidentally, selling a lot of properties in this area!
How amazing would it be to be just around the corner from such a tasty, reliable resto? This will be the reality for the new buyer of a 2-storey semi-detached recent reno we are calling Sizzle and Spice in Bloordale Village, offered at $589,000!
Click HERE to see a former corner grocer we sold in Wallace/Emerson for $801,000, and click HERE to see a rowhouse which we sold at Bloor/Lansdowne for $421,100.
The Emerson is well-worth a visit!
