People in Toronto love their pets. This is a dog friendly city and we are fortunate to have a vast selection of wonderful off-leash parks to choose from where our furry friends can romp and play. Any dog owner knows that walks are nice but sometimes it’s nice to let your dog run around and make friends with the other tail-wagging creatures.
One of these off-leash areas is in The Junction’s Baird Park. Known to many as the home of West Toronto Lawn Bowling Club, Baird Park is located just west of Keele Street, at Humberside Drive. This small park with mature trees features a children’s playground, a wading pool as well as a fenced-off, off-leash area for dogs. The area is big enough for a serious game of catch with a ball or frisbee, and it’s covered with wood chips which keeps dogs mud-free.
Recently, urbaneer team member Monika visited the park with her dog Logan, a 12-year-old border collie. You’d think that snow and freezing temperatures would keep this adorable fuzzball curled up at home, but rain, shine or snow, ‘outside’ is his favourite word.
Just look how happy he is to have the dog park all to himself!
Taking your dog to the park has many benefits both for you and your pet! Letting your dog stretch his leg and socialize with other dogs is an important part of a pet's mental health, and helps elevate your own cardio and keep your core aligned!
The Baird Park off-leash area is open to the furry friends in your life Monday to Sunday, from 7:00am to 9:00pm. Please remember to be courteous to others and pick up after your pup.
